FROM THE COMMANDER

The American Legion will be celebrating its 107th birthday on March 15. What began as a group of World War I veterans determined to care for one another and strengthen our nation has grown into one of the most influential veterans service organizations in our country.

As we mark another year, it is worth reflecting on the responsibility we carry at our Post’s level. The legacy of the Legion is not sustained in D.C., but in local communities like ours – in the meetings we attend, the veterans we assist, the funeral honors we render, and the programs we support. Every time we show up in uniform, volunteer at an event, or welcome a new member, we are continuing the work started by those original veterans in 1919.

Anniversaries are not just about looking back; they are also about recommitting ourselves to the mission. I encourage each of you to take pride in what our Post has accomplished and to consider how you can continue to strengthen it in the months ahead. The American Legion has endured for more than a century because of dedicated members like you, and its future depends on our continued engagement and leadership. Thank you for all you do for the American Legion Family.

John Dyer

FROM THE ADJUTANT

Please remember that we are always looking for volunteers for various projects and/or events. We cannot be successful without the participation of our membership. If you have ideas or would like to get more involved, please reach out to the post and we will get you in contact with the appropriate people. If you need assistance with payment, the Walter Reibe Fund is available to help. We have several payment methods for your convenience. Please contact the Adjutant if you’d like to request support. Message From The AUXILIARY

We lost another member this last month. Jane Werner passed away in January. I think she was the oldest member in age at 99 but not the longest member. That honor goes to Gerry Wessell for 72 years and counting. Jane was such a happy person, and she found joy in being a member of the Auxiliary. She was a strong support to Berne Baer as they often traveled together doing Auxiliary business all over the State. She will be remembered for her helpfulness, kindness, and love for our Veterans.

The Poppy Program will be kicking off in March when we send out a mailing to members for donations. All funds collected are used strictly for Veterans and their families in need. This past year we were able to support programs at each of the Veteran Homes where many of our Legion members are staying. We donated supplies to our VA Hospitals. We were able to give a local Veteran family a great Christmas meal and some gifts. We are also supporting Veterans 1st of NEW with a donation.

Our spring conference is April 11th at the Woods. Please let me know if you plan to attend. Per our finance officer the Auxillary will cover the Cost to attend ($2 registration and $18 luncheon). This is a joint conference with the Legionnaire's. Also a good time to meet other Auxillary units to share ideas etc. I will need a count by March 27th. Send to Mary Van Egeren at mvemve0815@gmail.com or call 920-737-5587.

Please consider joining us at our meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30. We are happy to have you join in person, but we also offer the ability to join via a Zoom meeting. If you are interested, please call Mary Krutz at 920-680-7938. You must leave a message, and I will call you back. Thank you.

Mary Van Egren
