Message From The COMMANDER

Greetings Legion Family!

While 2025 is winding down, we have quite a bit going on. November 1 is our annual spaghetti lunch to celebrate our members. If your dues are paid for 2026, your meal is free. Any Legionnaires that can help in the kitchen and running food to the big hall would be greatly appreciated.

November 11th, Veterans Day, is going to be a busy day. The United Patriotic Society ceremony will be at the Neville Museum in the morning, and a flag retirement will be at 4PM, preceding our monthly meetings that are later in the evening. December 6th is our Christmas Party. Santa will make an appearance to celebrate with the young people in our community.

Lastly, due to conversations with Post members in my first few months as Commander, we are going to try and get more organized, so we are effectively delivering and supporting the programs that we do. We will be putting out Committee and Program interest sheets at the November meeting. If you are interested in getting involved or knowing more about the programs we do and support, feel free to check those sheets out. If you are already involved, you do not need to “reapply” as those programs are yours to be involved with as long as you’d like.

Thank you for everything you do! John Dyer

Message From The ADJUTANT

I hope this newsletter finds you well. It has been a busy few months for the Post, with many changes underway—hopefully for the better. We’re trying new ideas to get members more involved, and if you haven’t stopped by in a while, I encourage you to attend a meeting or event and see for yourself.

As you may have heard, we now have an updated website that far surpasses the old one, allowing us to share information in a more streamlined way. The new site also lets you subscribe to receive email alerts whenever updates are made—such as calendar changes or newly added information.

Going forward, the online calendar will always have the most current dates, times, and locations for events and meetings. If you have questions about an event, please check there first. For any additional assistance, feel free to reach out to the Post email address.

With that in mind, this will be the last printed newsletter mailed to members. Future newsletters will be posted on our website and sent out via email. After reviewing how other organizations handle their communications—and considering the costs associated with printing and mailing—it’s been determined that electronic distribution is the most cost-effective approach. You’ll still be able to print a copy yourself from either the website or the email, if you prefer.

This change will also allow us to expand the newsletter more efficiently without worrying about space limitations.

Lastly, a reminder that 2026 dues renewal is now open. There are several convenient ways to submit your payment this year: • Online through MyLegion.org

• By mail — simply send a check along with your renewal notice to the Post address

Annual dues are $45. If you need assistance with payment, the Walter Reibe Fund is available to help. Please contact the Adjutant if you’d like to request support.

Message From The Auxiliary

It is with sadness that we announce the death of the Auxiliary's long time member and past President Berne Baer on August 20th, 2025.

Berne joined under the membership of her husband Past Commander Sandy Baer of Post 11. She made it her business to learn all things Legion Family related and graduated from both the ALA Academy and TAL Legion College. This passion opened up opportunities for her to serve in leadership roles of the Unit, District, and Department of WI. She also served on the executive boards and as program chairwoman at the National level. Berne also had a passion for The Badger Girl's Program, spending 25 years as a program counselor. In that capacity she served hundreds of girls in Wisconsin learn about the government of our State. Please remember her in your prayers and thank her in your hearts.
