Message From The COMMANDER
Greetings Sullivan-Wallen family! It has been a productive last couple of months, but I want to thank everyone for what you do for the American Legion. I want to extend a special thank you to the members of our Building Committee and those assisting with the special projects we have going on to improve the state of our Post building – Randy Bialcik, Nate Oettinger, Bill Kaczmarek, and Tom Herber. By the time the next newsletter comes out, we should have greatly refreshed bathrooms! This group and others have been busy securing donated funds and materials to make these much overdue projects possible. If you are interested in helping with any of these initiatives, I am sure they’d welcome additional help!
I am certain the Auxiliary will touch on this in their article, but the American Legion Auxiliary passed significant changes to their membership eligibility. Over simplified, any grandparent, parent, sibling, spouse, child, or grandchild of a Legion-eligible veteran or any female veteran themselves can be a member. I am frequently approached by community members that want to help or be involved, but for whatever reason, they are not eligible to join any of our groups, so this should remove many barriers for official participation. Instead of Dual Members, we’ll soon have Triple Members (or Quadruple Members, if a Rider). If you are eligible for any element of the Legion Family, I encourage you to consider joining and supporting the part you are not currently a member of. Between the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and Legion Riders, our Family offers a lot.
